Stairs, Roofing, Windows and Interior Framing

The roof is now completely on. Notice the ridge cap on the lower section. The ridge cap is installed on the upper section as of today, but I don't have a photo of that yet. All the windows are in as well.

Roof and windows. Front of house.

Interior framing.

No longer need a ladder to get to the second floor!!!!
Most of the remaining framing will be finished tomorrow. Exterior doors will go in this week, too. The next big phase will be the exterior siding. Plumbing should start soon. Then wiring.

Kitchen Wall, Insulation and Strapping

The insulation and strapping is now complete over the entire house, including the newly completed south kitchen wall. Next will be the roof, windows and doors and interior partitions. Once the interior partitions are framed the plumber can come back and then electrician can start.

South kitchen wall. Not a bad view!
This time including the windows on the west side as well.

One Story Section Sheathing

View into the newly sheathed section from the old section.

Second window from the right will be over the sink.

Nice view of the kitchen/dining area ceiling.

Roof Insulation and One Story Frame

I'm adding the last bits of 2" insulation to the roof.

The frame for the one story section is up! This part of the house is where the kitchen and dining area will be.

Nice view through the trees.

Insulation and Strapping

The two story section now has insulation and strapping on all the walls except above where the one story section connects to it. The strapping is nailed through the insulation and sheathing to the posts. It holds the insulation down and also provides a nailing surface for the vertical exterior siding. Notice also that the roof finally has Typar on it and so now snow removal is pretty much restricted to the outside of the house.

Rafter trusses patiently waiting to be erected over the one story section.

Roof Sheathing

The sheathing is now finished on the 2 story section except for the few boards along the ridge line that will need to be installed from the outside and a bit around some of the windows. The man in the bottom photo is my friend Steve Elfelt, who is visiting us with his family from Pennsylvania. Thank you, Steve!!!!
